Day 17

 *UPDATES*

4/13/23 4pm

*EDIT* We just heard that OHSU has accepted him. We are waiting for a bed to open and they will transport Tony.

HUGE turn. Tony is being transferred ASAP.

The pancreas has further necrotized and is causing blood clots/blockage to his spleen and liver. Surgery is required.

This is all the info I have.

He will likely transfer to Seattle because it is not a procedure that this hospital can handle.

All hands on deck. He needs prayer.

And we need a bed to open up and a competent surgeon ready to go STAT.

  36. Becky, you and your family are on my heart. I'm sending prayers out for Tony. I do know OHSU works miracles so let's pray he gets there. My hubby and I can appreciate the position you're all in. It's scary as hell, and from the patient side I know the struggle he must be feeling. All I can say for him is to keep the hope alive any way you can...I know the pain becomes unbearable and one of my strategies is music, either singing or listening. It is one way to shift the brain's focus from pain to something else. And music, especially humming or singing uses a different part of the brain so it doesn't focus on pain. I hope it makes sense. I'm kind of a pain expert. Sometimea when i can't strum my guitar bc I'm to weak, I listen to music and just tap my fingers like I'm playing...it's the same and the brain trickery does happen, even if just for moments at a time. Sending all my love. Amy Fleckenstein
